As for shaping the shadows and hair, I might as well just provide an example. Don't worry if I put some shadows in different places, since that is more up for debate on what to include, but pay close attention to how much influence there is at the tips of the hair. The more control you give to the handles at the nodes at the tips of the hair, the more you can curve the hair in a given direction. This will help immensely with flow.
Also, always reverse image search an image before taking the one posted. For instance, the one posted has been poorly compressed in JPG. If you reverse image search it, you will be taken to a much cleaner PNG version here:
