The rice you responded to, while kinda irritating to see the poster be such a blatant turd, could have done better but there were instances in which the background and foreground worked quite harmoniously and in which you replied as negatively as though they'd just slapped something on top of a wall.
My point is, criticize the placement or integration, but not that something's "obscuring" the background. That isn't an inherently bad thing, and doesn't teach anyone how to improve -- only to avoid something that, when done with even moderate success, can look passable, and with great success look fucking awesome.
