Back then, I mostly popped in, posted my setup, then left. I never really posted otherwise, but never really stopped lurking either. I posted anonymously at first, then took the name Jay with no trip, and now this.
As far as notable things that happened, I would say the biggest was the introduction of homemade wallpapers. Using a vector and a single color. Seems simple, but it just wasn't done. It was crazy popular when it started though. Here's my first rice, as an example of how simple it was. (Sorry, I look for any excuse to post this. I still love it, though if I could redo it, I would make sure there is no overlap with the buttons and slider. Also, noclock/10).
Banners were, and are, huge. I remember coming back after a week or so and seeing a wall with a banner and being totally blown away.
Back then, our UCCW widgets were pretty damn simple compared to now.
I'm missing tons of stuff that happened when I wasn't browsing or busy with school. Hope someone else comes by and elaborates more.
