>>1676270You can also make a clipping mask if you want to keep the line as all one line, but hide certain parts. You do this by making a shape around the object, and having it only cross at the parts you want to be hidden. You would then select both objects (making sure the new shape you drew is above the other) and then press Ctrl+7 to make a clipping mask.
