For anyone in the future struggling with one of these where the colors are so similar to the background, be sure to play around with the magic wand modes (R/G/B/A etc), make sure your first pass isn't too tight, then grow your selection and touch up by hand. Definitely worth having generated lineart from inskcape too, just make sure to match the color.
