You're probably trying to edit the shellstyle in system32 instead of the one with your theme (if you are having issues) but I fail to see how someone could fuck up recompiling one line in one dll.
Tree view? Do you mean the navigation pane? Visibility is determined by a true/false value in the registry. By default its just a menu option with "organize".
I know what explorerframe.dll does, that was my point...
What else are you trying to accomplish thats so difficult? I think most people are satisfied just downloading and installing a visual style...
