>>2169182Strokes are just an outline generated around shapes, but often it'll be used on it's own without the shape itself to mimic an outline. In Adobe Illustrator, they can be turned off from the panel that let's you select colors for your shapes. A lot of beginners use them to cut corners and try and save time with their lineart but in most cases it just ends up looking very rigid and stale. Strokes are quick to lay down but at the same time they can't be modified much and they have a lot of restrictions. I'll attach something that should illustrate the difference between making lineart out of strokes and shapes.
