trying my hand at this for the first time, finally downloaded inkscape and read a bit of the guide. once i got the curve tool figured out (step 3) i pretty much just went ape shit. probably not doing things the "right" (just filling shapes mostly) way but im pretty pleased so far, especially since my source is an upscaled manga scan. working at 3000x3000 which is probably way to huge, but i want to pay as much attention to detail as possible. im not using just flat black on the whole image either, darker greys and shades will be involved. shits hard and ive got a headache after 4 hours, and feels like not much progress. got to respect you pros
