As for uniformity, I made these simple shapes. The left is hardly uniform at all. It naturally curves and grows as it comes down and shrinks as you get to the tips. If I were making an arm or any other curve it would end up in a similar fashion. The one on the right is a completely nice uniform line that's "damn well the x point thickness".
