>>1418698various steps, I mentioned a few earlier but more often I will always work in multiples, so image is 1000pixels wide I will run a filter to clean jpg artifacts, upscale it to 2000, run the same noise filter to remove the halo produced in upscale and smooth jaggies a bit then upscale to 4000pixels then do a final smoothing and various strengths of unsharp mask then downsize to the final rez. Some images I have to break this cycle and do a half multiple or more upscale steps. Example of a half scale is 1000pixels upped to 1500pixels. More steps taken on the way up the smoother those "jaggies" will be. There is a point of impossible though and with 1920 widths around 800 pixels is the limit for source files. I have managed some smaller files but not often. Part of the limit too is the original source, depending on the image be it overly contrasty lines or really soft source you can get jaggies or a huge blurry mess. The filter I use is a edge preserving one and if there is no contrast in the image it will go to mud and be a blurry mess.
