It is indeed very sketchy. I don't blame you too much for not knowing how a specific line should be drawn. Once you've done a lot of vectors, you start to get the hang of what is an error, and what is a style, so it just takes a lot of practice. Try working on more clean images, such as anime screenshots, so you can master the pen tool a little easier. Once you know how important handles are, and how important it is to give every node a handle, you will be able to make a lot more smooth shapes, especially in the hair or any part that has a lot of curves.
