THOUGH I cannot say how well the newer versions work, I think it is up to version 12 now. Technically I am running 7.04, granted win7 fixed a bunch of bugs that XP had. I think 7.02 is free now and the .04 update is free but never released as a full DL. I have been using PSP for ages like version 1.5 or so.
I think your off to a good start, just need to pick up little tricks here and there and practice.
