I doubled your original's resolution (quadrupled the pixels) and re-sharpened it.
Look at it close up. Plenty of pixels.
Yet the PNG is still fairly small because there are few edges and color-changes.
You might try posterizing it, (essentially, reducing the color depth to force everything to the nearest shade of a limited palette.)
Beyond that, there's making a request on the Vector thread. Should be pretty simple for them.
