The prototypical Linux distro is not being designed with gaming in mind. Philosophically, Linux is about productivity, customization, and complete file management, so partitioning miscellany like games and time-wasting stuff on a dual boot or encapsulated inside a second virtual environment is aesthetically sensible, if not just a better experience actually playing-games-wise.
