(Granted, if they're CLI applications, X11 implementations on Windows are pretty shite) It's quite useful for developers on Windows who just wanna use bash and use some GNU utils every once and awhile, but it really has no other use than that. To get a proper Linux experience, especially as a noob, install a distro as a dual boot or try one in a VM.
