How would you go about having a gradual blur on a certain path, like image related (though not necessarily a straight line)?
I don't like simplifying shading simply because it's a vector, so it's doing my head in. I've tried:

Very banded, though it sort of works
>blurs with mask and seperate solid path
Works, but because the blur causes the opacity of certain areas to be uncontrollable, the solid layer "joining" the blur is visible
There's gradient meshes too, but they didn't seem to want to behave, and are significantly more effort than the other solutions (considering there's quite a lot of them to be done).
