I just don't know why we need so. fucking. many. of them. A Desktop Thread doesn't even reach the bump/image limit before another one pops back up. What other board allows that behavior? I know /tg/ gets real fucking pissy if any of the generals ever accidentally gets multiple threads going.
But we have 31 of these fuckers currently filling up /w/. Out of 150 threads. 20% of the board is dedicated to threads that are only tangentially related to anime wallpapers.
This board is slow enough as is. By shitting it up with Desktop Threads, it pushes other threads off the board and prevents people from ever having the opportunity to post relevent wallpapers in them.
