Carthas came to, as if he had been in a dream (or nightmare), and spoke aloud to his assistant
‘Yes, send word to the legions, tell them to amass themselves, and I will see to the matter in a few days,’ the dishevelled lord said in a way that clearly showed he didn’t even care anymore. His whole existence had lost purpose. He’d poured everything into that little planet, and everything he’d poured in was gone with it. Ironically, the destruction of his greatest accomplishment -humanity -had made him more like it than ever. But for the fact that- unlike his precious humans- Carthas had nothing to pray to, he would have imitated humanity faultlessly. The assistant opened his mouth to protest, but thought better of it, and left the marble expanse of space to the miserable lord. As he walked out, he allowed himself a few seconds of thought before the huge task of amassing an army begun. We don’t stand a chance. Not without Harbinger. Those Elementals will be the end of all of us. All of Heaven. He had no idea that Carthas’ thoughts were running along the same lines. The assistant turned to his messenger boy (a low-class, filthy being, in the high-classed assistant’s opinion) and handed him a document bearing the Royal Seal of Heaven.
‘This is worth more than your worthless life twenty times over. You’d do well to deliver it to the SATH Leader without any problems, worm.’
The messenger, knowing his place, did not reply; it was rude to reply to someone of such high rank without being asked to. He bowed his head and scuttled from the marble waiting room.
