I've been hooked on Fire Emblem so fucking bad.

Personally, I wouldn't get the Moto X because of two reasons. I've heard it has a weak battery life, and the most important part is that it won't take micro SD cards. You're pretty much stuck with the 16/32gb of internal memory. If you're going to use WidgetLocker to customize your lock screen, you're really gonna be draining that battery.
Another thing is that a Moto X might be free with Verizon/Sprint/etc but you'll be stuck with a two year contract. If you're going to sign a two year contract, you might as well get a good phone, one that you will enjoy and like having day to day.
If you're planning to buy it unlocked, it comes to $345 (Amazon) and that seems like a lot for a phone that isn't that great.
In my opinion, a nice phone to start off with all the new technology is either the Nokia Lumia 520/1 or the Moto G. They're both pretty cheap ($60-100) and they offer a nice intro to the smartphone era. Obviously the Nokia is windows but it'll read micro sd, while the moto g is a nice android phone.
After you've played with those two (prepaid) phones, I would look into getting something expensive.
Top contenders right now are S5, Note 3, LG G3, HTC ONE (M8) and the iPhone 5s.
