Sometimes, as vectorerers, we like to stay with the source material as much as possible, but when some things translate from a screen image to a cleaned vector, they don't look so good, such as the kinks and the eyes mentioned previously. That's why that 4-hour gap you usually give before looking at it again is really crucial to stay to, even with the delay of several days coming up on you.
When I did my Yuki vector, I kept posting updates, so people would know that it was still in progress, even though it was taking a while. Maybe if a situation like this comes up again, post it as a status update for the requester, and then say you'll do the cleanup when you get back?
