The frame images themselves for Appows Dusk are transparent, so I'll either have to replace them or just find a different theme. You're right though, I think it will look better.

Also I added a gradient to my wall, hate/rate? Should I keep it or ditch it. Also set up Mono's tiling, thanks again. Will probably change themes soon to the one Mono made of peek without this gradient on the title bar.

Two things to customize startscreen for windows 8

first is Oblytile, makes all your icons use the full icon space like metro icons use.

After I install bblean, I have a problem with Flash in Chrome (I have to disable one of the two plugins for it to work), and it takes my computer about 4-5 minutes to shut down (I have 16 GB of 1600 MHz RAM, so there really shouldn't be any issue here).

Does anyone have a solution for this? I would be very grateful.

Yes I've excluded Chrome.exe already because the bar overlays the tabs etc.

My main concern is the shutdown time. It hangs on logging out for several minutes. I've reinstalled Windows several times, and each time I get to setting bblean to shell, it does this.

Did you simply just run bblean or did you actually set it as your default shell? As in, it starts automatically as you log on.

If that's not the case, then I'm not sure what it is. bblean has made logging on and off faster for me.

I suppose its nice to have it automatically be shell already when I reboot. Plus if it's shell, the Windows key acts as a menu shortcut as well.

I might add that it appears to add my optical drive to the list under the Computer navigation pane in Explorer after I set it to shell, regardless if there is a disk in it or not. Not sure why though.

Then I try to launch bblean and it crashes. I tried setting it as shell and it crashes after I log in.

I don't really know, but if it's giving you problems just go with explorer. You shouldn't feel you need to use bblean or anything.

Latest release. Sourceforge seems to be down right now, but if I remember correctly, there are both 32 and 64 bit versions? I've been using the 64 bit version, as I have Windows 7 Ultimate x64. I might try the 32 bit version, though I don't see why that would make a difference, unless the 64 bit build is inherently bugged.

Also, I just removed all those registry values I added for hangs and whatnot, and now bblean isn't crashing at least. Other issues still exist, however.

as far as your computer hanging, try unloading all the plugins that come with blackbox and then try doing a restart. definitely leave bbleanskin disabled for the time being until you solve the issue, and i would double check what antivirus you have running since thats been noted to cause conflicts.

The odd part about it is that the Chrome/Flash issue doesn't occur at all until I set bblean as shell. And yes, I had already done so with that method. Still, I don't see how it could not be connected to bblean being shell. If I set explorer as shell, it is fine.

I'm using windows 8. Like in Windows 7 you can pin programms to the taskbar. It's much more convinient than a dock. Except for the rainmeter clock and the t-clock (the clock on the taskbar) everything is done in vanilla windows 8.

been messing about with windows 7 themes, start orbs and rainmeter skins. most of them have been ok up to now but I haven't quite got it right. for now I'm happy with this one. apart from deviantart I don't know where to go to get rainmeter or windows 7 themes

Unnecessary for the most part and clutter the taskbar, it would look cleaner without them.

If you need to check your connection or check the battery you now only have to press the triangle to display all the tray icons now.

eh, i need to add that detail. what i do is go to the programs root directory, and create a shortcut there. rename it to whatever you want (IE: Winamp) then right click >properties>change icon. navigate to the icons directory, and select the one you like. then you can choose to pin to start menu, or task bar.

But what's being beaten like a dead horse is the anime avatar and flat color BG. It's nice at first, but everyone with one? Sure they have different anime characters, different colors but seeing them all in one thread is predictable and nothing really pops unless you really look at the customization someones put into their work

you make a good point. people lean towards the basic flat colors because anime well, is basic and flat. its easy to work around. ive tried all the flat color and bblean deal myself and its awesome, but does get boring. i always ended up going for multicolored gradients and images with more depth to make it more appealing to the eye. its the easy way out, but there are those who add texture, pattern, and detail to make it more interesting to the eye. i would suggest looking at some of what masood as done for reference.

Or go for a 3TB drive, Seagate makes a 7200 RPM, 6 GB/s drive and you can find it for around 150 USD. I have two of them, one was external but I dismantled it and put it inside my PC, but its the same exact drive.

To get the transparency off the corners, you have to use a windows style builder.

I believe there is an edited version that already has them off somewhere around here.

I'm actually getting a desktop for Christmas from my grandparents. At this point I'm just waiting out these last couple weeks of having to deal with this clunker. Unfortunately, it is. The new youtube really frustrated me. I ended up using a custom userstyle to center my videos again.

well, that does switch the artist and album... but the margins arent correct, and youre gonna get overlap with the year and some weird clipping. thats something you're gonna have to fix yourself i think. at least now you know where to look and where to edit. only mess with whats under "album" and "album artist" under group headers, that should be the only place you should have to look anyway...

Sorry I missed this. What I did was actually edit each frame image in Photoshop, and filled them in with a flat (21,21,21) grey instead of a transparent black.

Actually, the better solution, now that I look at it, is it keep the "draw line" section the same, and instead make these changes:
Under "album", change >puts(album artist,$if2(%album artist%,...
back to the original >puts(album,$if2(%album%,...

Under "album artist", change >$drawtextex( %album%...
to >$drawtextex( $get(album)...

This is, however, moot if you always tag your music properly and don't use foobar for internet radio.

ha... i imported the edited fcl from slimfoo, and edited some of the scripting to make it look the same as i had, but i think it functions the same. is it me or is the search filter with ncmpcpp_mod a lot more specific? i guess thats one advantage to it.
