Oh, I've been trying to figure a way to change the color of active tasks like you have for Nightly. Like when you maneuver the bblean menu there's an active color for items you scroll over and the color for everything else. I just figured there wasn't a way to do that for bbleanbar. Still not sure what to do. I tried to replace my explorerframe.dll with a modified one that I made with Resource Hacker. When I tried to replace it, all it did was break my start menu and searchbar in explorer. It didn't even replace any of the icons. Can anyone tell me how to use a modified explorerframe.dll with windows classic? I get the feeling that it's windows classic that's making things complicated. As I've said in previous threads, the Navigation Buttons Customizer doesn't work and I'm unable to simply replace the explorerframe.dll in the system32 folder. What do I do?

only 281 and 582-584 change forward/back buttons for classic theme. IIRC 582 is normal, 583 is pressed and 584 is disabled. 281 is the frame for the buttons, i just deleted that. as for the search/refresh/etc buttons in the 34500's, i deleted those as well.
I don't think the bitmaps themselves are causing the problems, make sure that you copy the .dll somewhere else before editing. that fixed all problems i initially had. if you still can't get it to work you can upload the button png's and i'll try to edit them into the explorerframe.dll for you.

Except it is. Everything in the stylefile.rc is fucking labelled for you already, its a simple matter of trial and error to figure out which hexcode corresponds to what.

All these plebs that need to be spoonfed everything... bblean is one of the easiest shits to customize, as far as colors go.

The menu code has a line for active, foreground and background, I've already tried out any combination of those for toolbar and none seem to work, that's why I thought I'd ask someone who seems to have theirs working. If you can't help me that's fine, but there's no need to be nasty and hostile for no reason at all.

So, I got the same issue to return once again. My start menu is broken and my searchbar in my explorer is gone. The refresh button in the explorer is unchanged, but this time, however, my back and forward buttons managed to switch to the desired ones, albeit the wrong background color. Maybe it's best if I just hand all the resources over to you. Do take note when using these, I was assuming the black backgrounds on these bitmaps were going to be transparent. The black color that acts as a background for them is not the color of my visual style which is probably why they don't match. Thank you for helping me with this, by the way. These are the bitmaps I'm using and a copy of an unedited explorerframe.dll. Ignore the numbers of the bitmaps. I found out they're wrong.

No, I just think his looks better than a majority of the dark themed ones, reason being since the guides been here the quality of those particular desktops has really gone down. There a some good dark ones but there are a lot more bad ones. It's has nothing to do with being original.

Yeah I agree, I never implied that anyway. The quality of most desktops made with that guide in reference have been half assed, mostly dark desktops though as that's what's popular.

I customized my desktop before the guide became common practice.

See how the guide is mostly irrelevant? Most people just have similar type of preference for neatness when it comes to customizing their shit, dark colors for the most part are easier on the eyes than bright colors.

I asked this exact thing in the last thread when I saw another one that looked just like that. If you look at the bar you'll see it's HoneyView3, it's really good for manga and shit. If you want it to look the way I have it there just click the checkbox on the titlebar when viewing and image.

I have no problem with what theme people want to use. Both dark or light are fine, I use dark for the reason you mentioned. All I'm complaining about is that there seems to be a real range of quality with dark desktops and most look half assed, the problem also exists with light too but seeing as they're not as popular it's not as apparent.

You have some things to work on.
Fonts could use some work and overall unification, 4chan specifically.
The red-colored glass on the purple background bugs me and the f2k colors clash.
And I'd say if you're going to go with that much minimalism in your 4chan CSS the colors should match that and be just as minimalistic.

When running bblean it just puts a bar at the top of the screen with numbers. It seems like you somehow made it into a taskbar and would like to know how. Anyway, try right click and ctrl-right clicking the bbleanbar, there's a plethora of options and custmization to be done, your best bet in all honesty is to just fuck around with it, there's really no specific guide on how to do things other than your own knack for picking up on it. Keep track of what you change and notice what it does. That's about the best thing I could advise.

More often than not the media players you'll see here, at least for Windows, are foobar (music) and maybe potplayer (video). Image viewers are usually HoneyView3 which is great for manga and such. Any other fancy things are any of the following: rainmeter, console windows, visualizer settings on foobar, Windows 8 stuff, different file navigators from linux, etc.

Installation:

1. Put bbColor3dc.dll somewhere in the blackbox\plugins folder.
2. Load it from the plugin-config menu, or add it's relative path to "plugins.rc".

To use 3DCC Themes with bblean, make a folder in your bblean/styles directory named "3dc".
Create a theme with the program, and save the file with the same name as your style.
For example, bb_crim.3dc to work alongside bb_crim.style
You can then apply the theme by loading your style via the bblean menu.
This only works well with windows classic as a visual style.
Note: The folder MUST be named "3dc" to work properly.
A readme can be found in your bblean/plugins/bbColor3dc folder.

When you look at the explorerwindow you see that it's a white bar and when you look at the firefox window you will see the opposite, a black bar. Everything is black ( as it's supposed to be now) except for that mutherfucking white ass bar. I've done everything to change it but it won't, even when I try putting on a new visual style and I can't fix it.

Very nice, I especially like how it blends into and seems like a part of the desktop. With that in mind though, that trackbar sticks out way too much.

Yea that's what I was going for. I wanted to incorporate a little blue somewhere but I feel like it's going to throw everything else. And the trackbar is pretty jarring to look at. I'm trying to figure out whats causing it.

I have a question for the majority of people posting in here, hopefully without coming off as offensive.

Why do most desktop screenshots in here basically look the same? bbLean or another lightweight window manager, or maybe a similar theme for Windows' default one; maybe Linux instead, but with generally the same look. Very dark gray, fonts so small it must hurt reading that for prolonged times, and usually a single color wallpaper with a vector on it. I can see the appeal, because it generally looks nice and clean. I dislike the small fonts, but that's about it.

Still. Why does the majority of people in here go with that style? There are many ways to style your workplace. Why not try something different?

A lot of people ask this question. I feel if there was no guide people would put a little more effort into making theres more unique and original. I'm not saying the guide is a bad thing, it should just be used more as a reference not a step by step list.

I hate when people say this. There are an endless number of ways to make your computer your own, even if you are going for a minimal feel. See Get9 or Shiros desktops. They look nice and minimal without the common bbLean darklike my soul look.

They're still pretty much the same thing. Using anything but 1b1b1b for a background color doesn't make it any more unique.
It's getting tiresome having people complain about it in every thread.

But you can see that the most of people don't know what they're doing, so they just follow the tutorial hoping that their OS doesn't break everything. I'm my case, my imagination is shit, I normally do my desktop based in others desktops that I like.
