>>1513003I watched the whole thing. It's a little bit dated...
I wanted to like the anime, I really did. I tried. I even forced myself to watch the whole thing. My opinion turned out as different than most people's. In general I didn't like the show, at all. Lain meant nothing to me, and I don't know why anything happens, or why anything means anything to anyone in the show. It all felt boring, not well thought out, lacking in characters, and generally just a waste of my time.
The worst of it to me is the characters. Lain is just there. Her sister is just... okay, what did actually happen to her sister? The knights are just uh... doing stuff. Projecting into the wired is really vague, and on top of that Lain gets a ton of stuff and can project there easy as pie because she's practically thrown high spec equipment. Nothing seems to happen for a reason, nor does what happen actually matter.
I guess the lack of characterization just killed me. The plot seemed non-existent. It doesn't help me that I couldn't buy into "The Wired" or what it stood for just because I'm an electrical engineering major and understand computers too well.
So no, I don't recommend it. Some people seem to love it though. Maybe give the first episode a try?
