Hide your powerlevel means thus: Make it so the non-anime loving plebs can't figure out that your background is anime very easily. What does this mean? Well I'll tell you what it DOESN'T mean.
It means none of the following:
1. Character shots in which most or all of the character's face or silhouette can be seen.
2. Landscapes. I love landscapes, but you can tell they're anime in a second.
Now there are some exceptions to this: For landscapes, the room from Yume Nikki counts as hiding powerlevel because it references obliquely without any character shots:
