The story is definitely one of the best I've ever seen. More than once, I sat staring at the screen without touching my mouse, repeating "Ohmygod....Oh my god...... OH MY GOD." for literally 5 minutes.(You guys know what I'm talking about.) , however......
I personally feel that there is way too much common route, and because of that, the story felt a bit slow at times. (The only VNs I've played with a common route are Ever 17,Symphonic Rain, Tsukihime, Rewrite, and F/SN, and Ever 17 easily has the most.)
I don't know what reviews you've read for this game, but I also feel I should say that there was a little more slice-of-life than I was expecting.
(Oh, and by the way, it's an awfully pretty game. As of this post, almost every image on this thread is a screenshot from the game.)
