So my request (
>>1585896 >>1585741 ) got buried and I decided that I would try rendering this myself, but I ran into some problems.
Here's the main problem: I know completely white pixels are bad rendering on my part, but is there anything I can do to fix the grayish/halfblack pixels at the edges?
Pic related, see edges
Because of this, I can't fill with a solid color aside from white or I get an ugly white jagged outline around the render.
Also any general rendering tips/instructions would be useful, I'm 94% sure that I am doing this incorrectly.
This was my first time rendering and I had no idea what to do (used the CS6 pen tool) so that explains most of my craprendering.

I've requested this a few times before but I understand how many people ask for stuff on here so if you didn't get around to it that is fine. But could someone remove the text from this image?
>>1586020 Weird. Have you tried using the magic eraser? The girl looks pretty easy to render because of the colors. I don't know, actually. It's just a guess, so don't take my word as gospel.
Are you going to slap Utsuho on a solid background? If so, then try to remove blocks of white in between little spaces (let's say, on the hair.) Select your render then refine edge. (I usually use 0.4 radius, smooth 3, feather 0.3px, contrast 0%. Shift edge depends; it usually goes from 10% to 35%. Play with the values)
Slap the render on a bg. Put an inner glow on the render with the same color as the bg and blend mode normal. The white/gray edges shouldn't be too noticeable.

>>1586124 That's amazing, I circled some parts of the image the stood out to me.
I know I went paranoid and circled some parts that were fine, so just fix whatever you think is wrong.
On some of the corners of the wings I think I see some white pixels, and especially near the hair there are some rough parts. I know it might be hard but try to see if you can smooth out all those jagged hairs at the corners, thanks.
And if you could do something about that huge choppy line on the top of the big wing it would be nice. The other circled part at the top of the wing looks a little unnatural so see if you can curve it a little instead of making it a straight line.
The big wing also has some rough parts so it would be cool if you could smooth those out.
And for the part with the rock-shadow-thing on the wing see if you can just finish the wing part and cut out the rock.
There's also that one part on the left where the gap into the wing is way too deep, see if you can make it a little less pronounced.
Ignore the little circles on the two horizontal wires but the two horizontal wires should be removed because I'm pretty sure they're part of the background gate wire thing..
Sorry for being so picky, mainly worried about those rough corners (which were the exact things I found impossible to remove) and those two horizontal wires so if you can fix all this up then yeah. I'll write you a handwritten letter and stuff.
Thanks.

About the hair part - it's really hard to explain so I want do it myself, so if you could recover the entire hair section to your original render that would be nice. (just slap back the first render in the area marked by the blue circle)
I actually think the right wing is mostly fine after looking at it again, the small bottom circle is a small spike left from the wire removal. The long vertical circle is obviously the part where the square used to be, I just circled it as a reminder.
My main issue was with the:
1. Small spikes from the removed wires
2. Wires from the cannon look a little too fat. If this is too hard then you can just leave it, but if you can make the fat wires (the two circled ones) like one px thinner then that would be cool.
So yeah, there isn't much left now, just see if you can fix the circles in pic related.
Thanks for working so much on this for me.

It's pretty easy (like 2 minutes for those eyes) so you should give it a try (I'm assuming you used the wrong tool), that way you can get the exact colors you want.
There's also a color replacement tool thing in
Paint.NET which should also work fine if you don't have Photoshop.

Works best with pentool renders with 0 feather.
Either make 1px width inner glow.
Set it to whatever color that matches the lineart the best.
Or select the render -> new layer -> fill with black -> contract selection 1px -> delete = black outline
You can easily color the outline by adding one layer on top of it and setting it to clipping mask.
Painting on this layer will only color the outline.
Hope that made any sense...

The blue circle at the left hair is a part that I didn't notice until now, but those white parts should be transparent because the cape is wrapped around her neck.
I gave the hair (green circle) a try, and then I realized I'm horrible at rendering and have no idea how to remove those white edges neatly.
If you get back and nobody's done the hair then you can try it, I just want you to make sure that all the strands are there and not fattened.

So I have this image here, that I've enlarged in an attempt to turn it into a dualscreen, but there's a lot of.... I have no idea what it's called. Many of the edges are serrated. What tool or technique would I use to fix it? (I'm using GIMP) (1/2)

>>1586804 It's impossible to remove the black borders without stretching or redrawing the image. The problem is that your picture isn't actually 1900x1200, it's 1900x1116. But the creator wanted to make it a wallpaper, and wallpapers are x1200, so he added some extra black in order to make up the missing space. If I tried removing the black and shrinking it to the size you wanted, it would end up as.... *mathmathmath* 1680x987. It NEEDS to be cropped if you want to remove the border, in order to get proper aspect ratio. (Probably from the left, since there's all that extra black space nobody's using.)
That's the easy part, though. It's impossible to make a portrait wallpaper out of a landscape image. The problem is..... well, basically the same problem you have when watching a video on your phone. Either it's going to have an enormous black border on top and bottom, or you're going to need to turn your phone sideways to see the image properly. 720x1280 is pretty impossible, but 1280x720 is doable.

>>1586816 > If I tried removing the black and shrinking it to the size you wanted, >it would end up as.... *mathmathmath* 1680x987. Err.. I didn't explain that properly. The two choices you have when resizing to 1680x1050 are either 1680x987, and adding 63 extra pixels to the top and bottom(AKA a black border), or 1787x1050, and cropping 137 pixels off the side of the image. (Which is what I did.)

>>1586816 >>1586821 i think that way looks just fine anon, good work! and thanks for the lesson, you taught me something haha.
You think its possible to remove the text? or would it be too difficult?
Also the 720x1280 is for a phone wallpaper but if thats impossible 1280x720 i think i can make do with. I just want as much of her possible within my phone's resolution(720x1280)

Thinks its possible for someone to make this so i could fit as a 1366 x 768 wallpaper?

I have one more small request if possible; can you do another render without the rock? I want to have both versions for when I play around with backgrounds.
If you could also take the uncompressed .png for both and post them on mediafire that would be appreciated.
Thanks again!

Anonymous
>>1587130 I assume by "serrated" you mean pixelated? There's not a whole ton you can do if you're not in the market for redrawing it. There are a few smoothing techniques, but with the level of detail it probably won't look too great. If I were to suggest any potential path, snag a few pixels off the edge, copy them to a new layer and put a slight blur on it to make the edge look softer. Otherwise the absolute highest res potential would be vectoring the whole damn thing, but no one is going to want to put that kind of time in.
There are some auto tools for smoothing, but any automated process generally doesn't look too great because they have to fit it to match the highest benefit to the range of images it may apply to.

Duplicate the layer. Put a gaussian blur filter of about 1-2px on the second layer. Erase the edges of the characters in the first layer. Should look workable.
