My phone is a shitty Kyocera Rise with a resolution of 320 x 480. Is it worth it at all to try to rice with such a small res? The only customization I've done so far was nova launcher for convenience of some things.

I don't really have a problem with it, I'd just change the colors of the icons so that your colors aren't all over the place. The white works good in the clock, it'd look better if there weren't 349384 colors imo.

Scopics is good, Tiny White Icon Pack, Holler! too.

Tried out a handful of my favorites as an example but yeah, you could just try looking on font sites and the like. I'd recommend sans-serif, non-decorative fonts myself, but some prefer serif or bitmap, etc.

White is almost invisible on that light bluish-grey, swap the bg out for something a little darker if you can. Otherwise I'd just work on layout, it looks kid of unbalanced towards the bottom.

Like it, really clean. I'd get sharper/higher res/more flat icons too, or at least ones that match the color of the wall. The wall's closer to a really desaturated dark brown and yours are just black, so it looks funny. You could edit out the "nito" too as it doesn't really fit in (random words in walls generally don't). Otherwise I like it.

Please try not to be so underage. Not sure if there's a better definition for it but as I understand it it's customizing something - could be a computer or a phone. See /w/ and /g/'s desktop threads for some good rice. Installing a custom ROM allows you to do more than what you could do in stock settings - basically, it lets you do everything you see in this thread/in the guide. So yeah, if you want to, go for it. Otherwise, it's your phone.

You could always edit the icons? There's a good number of square icons that you could just color swap and look good. A few are Stark, Minimal UI, M Flat (rounded rectangles), Re-vision, Greyish Icons, Scopics (you could just take the center part of the icon - the "image" or "logo" part of the icon - and put it over a rectangle and select it then delete that selection from the rectangle, it'd give you the same effect you have).

The term "ricing" stems from the car culture (specifically the street racing culture). Normally you race with supped up American muscle cars, but some people show up with what are called "rice burners". They are non performance cars that people have loaded up to the brim with after market parts. They typically are from some Asian brand (hence the name "rice"). These parts make the car look sporty, but its still a P.O.S. on the track. Think a honda civic (lets make it the hybrid version for shits and gigs), maybe 100HP, 4 cylinder engine, tops out around 120mph. On the out side it looks fast as hell, low profile, spoiler, carbon fiber hood, fart cannon muffler, the works. On the inside its still a fucking civic. The phones posted here in these threads look amazing (most of the time), and look like they are special, but at the end of the day its a bunch of pointless modifications, the phone its self is still a <insert phone model here>

It's awesome. I don't think you have to worry about the icons because they look great with the rest. One or two less wouldn't make a big difference so if you need them then you don't have to change anything. Maybe the clock could be a little bit smaller and... well, that's all I can say. I really like it.

You have to give more time than that, /w/ is a slow board.

But to answer your question, unless you root and have flashed a new ROM (this will wipe your phone clean) you are stuck with a non transparent notification bar. Thank touch wiz for that.

But on the plus side you are rooted now so enjoy titanium backup, greenfly, tasker, and ROM toolbox. backup your phone, make it use less battery, automate tasks, and change things like the dpi for a sharper image.

well i kinda deleted the whole system and for some resin it delete the internal SDcard (and nigga i spent up to 5-6 h straight trying to fix it) so sent it in to raper today so stuck whit this phone for now so had to make the best of it

Might want to change your clock placement on the top right or something. Looks a bit too clustered. You could always get a smaller clock widget as well.

It's also better if you placed your icons closer together. There should be an option somewhere you can configure the exact number of columns/row placement.

Because of your icons and navigation bar both being simi transparent, I would make the clock and font both simi transparent. Setting the transparency to 85 or 80% should make them opaque enough. Other than that it looks good.

There is one other option you have if flashing roms is not working. You still need to be rooted though. You will need to install Xposed framework found here

and then get "xblast tools" from the xposed framework downloads option.

This will give you the ability to change the notification bar's color. So you can make it transparent, and even center the clock if you want.

If I slide my finger down the screen, my status bar appears showing both the time and how much battery is left. If I on the other hand slide my finger upwards, the status bar becomes hidden again. Icons are semi custom. I have no idea where I got the originals from though.
I use a custom wallpaper + Desktop VisualizeR and Apex for the setup.
As for the apps, I use perfect viewer for the manga and Duelroid for Yu-Gi-Oh!.

I'm shit at explaining, sorry. You know how the iPhone home button is a circle? On Samsung it's more of a quadrilateral shape than a circle so the tap to unlock button looks okay. Thats a little easier to read. Unfortunately that color combo of violet and white makes finding a good color hard, cant use light colors or dark colors. Sorry, I was the anon you replied to. For clocks, try UCCW and make your own. For icons, see http://yttrium-tyclief.github.io/Rice/Android/ and go to icons. I'd personally recommend Holler! wht or Scopics, but it's your call. Some of the icon colors (the hot pink, for one) stand out a lot, just keep that in mind when finding icons - match colors with your theme/wall. If you need help editing them, ask the thread; someone will be willing.

I think the background is not that bad. It's not as bland as a solid color or gradient, but it's not eye jarring as some other walls people use. A subtler pattern may be better but right now it's not anything to freak out about.

I'm not sure I fully understand what you are asking though.
Did you recreate the widgets, or are you trying edit the ones you downloaded?

When I downloaded those you were not able to edit them, only change the background. So there is no alpha value to change. If you want to make them your self you just need to get that font installed. It looks like they are using this font

Is "I made it my self but the font is wrong" there is the answer.

Also not sure if you noticed it or not but clock in the upper left has the time in a dark red that is hard to see, and the weather widget is placed right over it. That needs to be fixed.

Here is the results I got with xposed framework, and Xblast to get a transparent status bar.

There are many more tweaks that you can do but most of them did not work for me. I'm not sure if that is because of touchwiz and the fact most of the changes are made for AOSP based "pure android" roms, or the fact that ATT sucks with releasing updates, and Im still on 4.1.2 If you are running 4.2 there is a touchwiz based xposed module that will work better. Unfortunately I cant use it

The bottom left image's status bar is not 100% transparent but I just set it like to make sure it stayed somewhat visible, the text got lost on that background if I didn't. It can become completely transparent if you want.

What parts look grayish? The upper left image for example is flat black on my screen, the stock bar is always a dark grey, and the transparent one is funny looking because I have set at more like a 5%, not full on transparent. The icons on the status bar are always that lighter gray, I can change them to other colors but then they are always on, and have no detail, like the signal bars go from 5 bar to one big triangle.

The icons and text don't go well together either.

Bottom right: I really like the idea here, very original. Needs quite a bit of work though. If possible make some slightly diagonal lines just like the GTA covers, use the GTA font on the clock, try to keep the font size the same, also the few screenshots look weird with the 2D images.

in recover there shod be a instal zip from internal SD click there find CM and flash it,
4.wipe data, don't forget this part or it will boot loop
5.reboot

Either way I never flat out said any of these look bad or that you did a bad job customizing. There are just some changes that need to be made. You are on a critique thread, have some fucking backbone. If you make a post people will comment. If you take the critique well you can improve the theme. Or you can ignore what people say and stick with what you have. No one is forcing you make a change to YOUR OWN phone.

If you are the one with the mio phone I only said that clock is out of palace and does not go with the theme you have. You are using a minimal layout and wallpaper but then use an out of place clock that is not very good looking. There are better options out there. So the "fuck your minimal shit" is a bit confusing. Are you going for minimal or trying to cram every function of your phone into one widget?

If you are the one with the minimal ui/stark icon pack then I was only expressing my hate towards those icons. They technically are minimal so your "Fuck your minimal shit" line is out of place. The only thing wrong with those icons is the fact that they use every color imaginable. So the over all theme of the phone uses 6 colors, but the icons look like something Jackson Pollock would paint.

Then Widget Locker, go locker or Holo Locker should work just fine. Keep in mind these are "lock screen replacements" but not true lock screens so you will notice so increased battery drain.

Widget locker is super customizable, Holo locker will give you a borderline stock android look, and go locker is about the same as widget locker from what I have heard and seen

I would recommend hiding the notification bar, using a new music player, with less obtrusive widget, something transparent, or more "universal" in appearance so it can fit with any phone theme. And also working on the clock thing you have on the bottom of the screen. The black text is really hard to see in some parts.

That style does feel a bit old now. reminds me of the iphone days before everyone realized the greatness that is android.
If you had the right characters and right resolution they would still get used. It also looks like there is a lot of people that are new to these threads, so the minimal look is the first thing they go for.

What do you mean by most complete? When you are using icon packs are you applying them to every app you, including the app drawer? If that is the case then its hard to give you a straight answer. I could say pack "X" is the most complete, it themes all my icons, but then it will miss 3 or 4 of your icons. But as far as I know its complete.
These packs serve as more of an overlay for icons than a full on replacement so they will be more uniform than others.

If you have the SVG of the vector, you just need to "simplify" it by deleting unnecessary details and lines and then colour everything how you like.

However, the model for my vector was already similar to that, so it didn't take too much effort.

It's just the small things. The touchwiz photo gallery has Gif support, the stock gallery on my nexus 7 doesn't. I like the way the TW dialer/contacts/ messaging are laid out. The camera app. The TW camera has so many features packed in. There are threads on XDA where people are asking if the TW camera can be ported over to the various custom roms they use.

Background is okay, but change your status bar so the colors match your theme. Maybe even get rid of some of the stuff in the status bar. Find a good icon pack that goes with your wall, edit the music widget or find one that doesn't stand out so much. If you're going to use a dock, clean up some of the icons.

Never mind, I got it fixed.

Now to start actually ricing this thing.

Finding a good picture that slides across multiple screens seems like too much of a hassle so one image per screen is the way to go I guess.

Also, is there any trustworthy site for apks of things I don't want to pay for?
