Coming from a heavy rommed/modded galaxy nexus.
Feels really solid and is super nice to use. From all the flagship phones that have been released around this month I like the M8 the most by far (tried them all).
If you're considering upgrading you should also check out the Oneplus One and the Oppo Find 7a, they're the only real competitors to this imo.

If you want to root your phone look up how on a site or page dedicated to your specific device. Rooting for the most part is easy, but if you mess up you can really fuck your phone.

Just one question though: How does your app drawer look like if you're using a mostly white wallpaper?
My problem is that I want to use a white wallpaper and keep the app drawer wallpaper at 100% transparency but when I go into the app drawer the app names are difficult to read because you can't change the font inside the drawer to be black, and I don't really want to make the app drawer darker than the homescreen by lowering the transparency.
Is there a way to change the font color just for the app drawer? Or one to have a separate wallpaper for the app drawer?
I'm using Nova Launcher. I hope you get what I'm trying to say. I find it hard to put it into words.

If you downloaded them to the phone it would most likely be the download folder.

download the icons,
extract the apk,
uninstall the icons,
copy the apk to your computer and unzip it (like any other zip file)
find the folder full of the icons
copy the ones you want to use to your phone
apply them individually on the homescreen.
Its a fun 15 minute process ;-)

I'm rooted so I just used Titanium Backup and made a backup of the icon pack. Copied that backup to my computer, opened the backup folder and found the apk folder. Really just repeated the steps from

Does anyone know of an app/widget/launcher that allows me to use some sort of movable dock? Essentially, I want to be able put 6 icons in the middle of the screen, and when I swipe, only the app icons scroll, nothing else. So, after spending ages on that Rainbowy Milky Holmes set-up, I realized I really didn't like it too much. FiveWallpapers/MultiPicture Live Wallpaper being shit didn't help either. I pretty much copied this off a set-up I saw browsing, and it worked out pretty well. Lightning Launcher helped a ton, thanks to being able to pin widgets, so when I scroll, only the icons scroll. The top picture loops between 23 different pictures, which is pretty nice.
Now on to r8s.

I'm still curious what it would look like with a properly done green fill coming out from behind like in that little example pic I did a ways back.
But its a lot of work just to make an effect for little old me, so I understand it not being done if you don't like the idea.
With the clock and alarm I thought they were separate enough, the size and color really sets them apart. They just need to be consistent with the H:M separator.
I like the idea of showing more of the rss feed. Switching the middle and right screen's renders and making the current center (new right) render smaller would give you more room for the rss widget.

I did the shadow fill, didn't end up too well, but it's not all that bad(very eye-popping).
The reason the god awful sun was there was because loldeletedroot. I extended my RSS and it ended up swell. Not sure if it's now top-heavy white.
The NextAlarmTime doesn't allow removal of separators-I wish.

Make the ribbon the clock runs on the same white as the icons and make sure the "AM" "SATURDAY" and "APRIL" are the same grey as the icons. Then space out the clock and date a bit. they have plenty of room on the sides, even it out a bit.
not much for the lock screen. Its not my first choice in sliders but it gets the job done. All my goto slider choices wouldn't fit with what you have anyway so its better than anything I would suggest.

Joking, but it's pretty nice and there's not a whole lot to say. I'd move the clock circle right a bit, so it's more centered in the space between her hand and the right edge of the phone, and center the date/time block in the banner you made. If possible, I'd also try to go for a 3x3 icon setup, but I don't know whether a third row would fit or if you even need it. If not, it looks great the way it is now.
Another idea, for the white in the ls clock maybe make the white the same light grey from the icons? Just a thought. 10/10
