Post your vector requests and recently done vectors here.
Previous thread ->
>>1674420 PLEASE READ THE OP BEFORE POSTING!.
Before requesting, here are some tips:
-request an image ONCE per thread please, and yes, that includes bumps
-check the list below if your request has been fulfilled before
-removing the background from an image is a RENDER, NOT a vector. There is a separate thread for renders called the Image modification thread (IMT), please take render requests there
-refrain from using a Render for a request and try to find the Original non-rendered image as it is easier for the Vectorist to work on
- nobody will waste time trying to vector trace poor quality images, so try to supply screenshots in decent quality
-note that overly complicated images are unlikely to be picked up by their nature
-do not request images that are "cropped out" on multiple sides, meaning images whose characters do not appear in full. One side cropped is usually fine, two depends; something like minor cropping of the hair on one side is generally ok as well
Check these places before requesting:

Progress is being made. The shirt is annoying me because the stripes in the source look really messy, so I'm going to have to try to fix them up. Everything else really isn't so bad. I figured out a good way to make the treads on the sneakers, but with how thin I made the lines, it's only going to be noticeable when zoomed in.

Why does a blur make it into a raster when the blur effect is applied to a vector object? Sure it might add a lot of complexity to a vector but I don't understand why it changes it completely.

Anonymous
>>1677461 >Because the file shape is converted to a raster shape and then an effect is added. But isn't that part of the vector file? I know vectors are just math problems. That's why they scale infinity because its made up of coordinates and not pixels. Wouldn't a blur effect just be another function of that math problem?
I'm a terrible vectorist so I just use whatever I feel like doing I don't know if it ever fits the image or not.
I think I do more blurs when I'm drinking and vectoring though because everything looks sorta blurry after awhile.

Quoted By:
>>1677466 Thus the "technically".
The main issue is that raster effects are really hard on memory and lag the shit out of even a good computer depending on how many are used and the resolution that its done at.
Also raster effects can look a lot different at different resolution lvl's so if you are viewing the image on a computer every time you resize the effect needs to be reapplied thus adding time and changing the image slightly.

>>1677561 Because of the odd coloring, it looks like her head is metallic, instead of hair.
Also, your lines in the hair need to be smoother - the one that bugs me the most, is the part near her bangs, but the line separating the bangs from the "metal hair" on her left (our right) is wobbly as sin, too.
I'd also smooth out those sharp corners transitioning as 45 degree angles in the shadows for the metallic head bits, and make it softer curves.

For example, the lines that I know should continue on such as the shoulder line are tapering away to nothing a long way from where it would normally end. The same for the hair that must continue on beyond the image are tapering.
There is also a completely unsupported hair on the right that is really bothering me and the extended tips are usually seen as an error in the source material that should be fixed.
Still, I do like it and without experimentation it is difficult to improve technique :)

Please keep this in mind when requesting - a lot of the reasons why things are not picked up is because us vector artists don't want to rebuild 3/4 of an image time and time again. Being cropped on one side is fine (like omitting the legs or top of the head/arm that is easily redrawn or can be omitted because it isn't important to the image, per se) But with this much cropped, you really can't use it for anything other then a fixed image.

I'm trying to learn how to vector and I read the tutorial in the OP but I'm an autist and still don't get a few things. I can't even follow the tutorial all the way through because it just goes "You should be able to draw rest of the lines on your own. " and I'm not able to. My questions: - How do you achieve consistent line width? Do you just go by your eyes? The width of my lines is all over the place. - How do you trace longer, more "complicated" lines like curly hair? One long line with lots of nodes? Thanks in advance.
Anonymous
>>1679785 I don't wanna be a dick but the answer to both of your questions is kinda "practice"
Line width is the thing most people have difficulty with, and there aren't really any tricks to it besides "look at it and do your best to keep them the same"
The best advice I can give for that is to make sure you're keeping your zoom level consistent when you're setting your lines; if you're at 800% zoom for one section and 1200% for another that can fuck your shit up.
Shagohod7
>>1679785 Best is to work with pair of nodes, so if you have to modify the line you just move the pair and it keeps the line consistent (or at least with very minor adjustment). Keep the adjustment bars parallel. Now to answer your question, all I can say is you'll be able to get more and more consistent with experience. At a zoom level of your choice, make sure the spacing of the nodes is about the same and have the handle bars parallel and you'll have consistent lines. For longer lines, with time you'll know where to place them, I don't know what else to answer really since it's really down to experience, the more you practice the more you'll be able to play around with your lines. Hope it helped
