I like to know my CPU and GPU load so I know Im useing them to the max whilst gaming, some games like DayZ are very unoptimized and there are steps that can be taken when you know that there is more grunt to be used.
I like to know my network up and down speed because I have very limited bandwidth per month and if something is sucking something down I dont need then I want to know so I can stop it.
Knowing ones IP is nice for LAN parties and your hosting the server.
True, there is no real need to know ones HDD statistics at all times but in the rare moments that you do it is very convenient to just glance over to it.
clocks and calendars: again; convenience.
when people have:
- pc uptime
- recycle bin stats
- SWAP usage
- ping
- processes
- notes
then fine I see your point but, there are legitimate uses for some.
the sound visual graph thingies are just cool and if you have the space why not.
