>>1729456I'd like to object as it's easier to edit png images with no artifacts than to edit a jpg even with the least possible amount of compression. If one wants to use it as a wallpaper the end user can simply convert it to jpg, but distributing the best quality possible is a good thing in itself.
Also I'm quite certain there are OSs which can use pngs as wallpaper.
