>>1760047He's implying that you aren't using anything original; that you saw someone else's desktop and said to yourself, "Oh wow, if I just install everything he has, I too can have a fancylicious desktop and rake in the praise!".
If you want some things to work on:
- You haven't really changed the homepage you downloaded. Try slimming it down to what you need and adding some color accents.
- Your ncmpcpp is stock - which, amazingly, works splendidly with your wallpaper, but will lead to people calling you out as a 'cloner' or telling you to fix it. There's a solid intro guide to editing it on nanami. Some of it can be tricky (especially when it comes to offsets and the progress bar), so if you have problems, ask!
- Look into getting mactype to improve your font rendering. It may not be noticeable to you, but after a couple weeks with pretty font (<3 open sans) your eyes will scream when you look at your old screenshots.
- Customize your bblean, or download a custom one from dA/nanami that catches your eye and modify it. Alternatively, the bblean themer utility is simple to use nowadays, albeit somewhat unstable from my own experience.
Those are the most objective suggestions I can give. Keep in mind that a lot of the criticism you'll receive as you improve your desktop will be telling you to do some thing or another to conform to the current 'style' that's popular in the desktop threads. If you stick around, you'll start to notice where these trends originate (see: noha), and from whom, and get a pretty good idea of how many people are going to clone it (this is important if you like being a snowflake).
Of course, you can choose to ignore any criticism (and should if it's just sheepspeak). It is your desktop first and foremost; make it look how you like it.
