Post your vector requests and recently done vectors here.
>Previous thread -> >>1753261 READ THE OP BEFORE POSTING!
>Before requesting, here are some tips: - Request an image ONCE per thread please, and yes, that includes bumps and secondings.
- Check the list below if your request has been fulfilled before.
- All requests are welcome, within reason
- Nobody will waste time trying to vector trace poor quality images, so try to supply screenshots in decent quality.
- Removing the background from an image is a RENDER, NOT a vector. There is a separate thread for renders called the Image modification thread (IMT), please take render requests there.
- Refrain from using a Render for a request and try to find the Original non-rendered image as it is easier for the Vectorist to work on.
- note that overly complicated images are unlikely to be picked up due to their nature
- Requesting images that are "cropped out" on multiple sides, meaning images whose characters do not appear in full, is not reccomended, One side cropped is usually fine, two depends; something like minor cropping of the hair on one side is generally ok as well

JPGC
>>1759308 You would be surprised how people draw certain lines. I look back on my first few and am constantly scratching my head as to why I drew many lines how I did.
It is either a poor vector or vexel of some sort. You can reverse image search the image and find the original to compare it to. I know I have seen this image randomly posted 2-3 other times throughout last year, so I never know the point of it. People just keep randomly posting it I guess.
Anonymous
>>1759310 I considered that, however the overall quality of the rest of the image is good enough that I really suspect that it's the original image or a redrawing of some kind. If the vector had a generally good quality but some bad lines, that would be kind of confusing. Also, something about it just seems to be... not as 'sharp' as vectors are usually.
I guess it could be a vector, I just... I just don't think so. Maybe I'm just hoping.

It definitely is a redrawing of some sort though, either a vector or vexel.

JPGC
>>1761884 The hairtips are exactly how they should be for any standard vector, so I do not know what you are trying to say in that regard. Line thickness is intentional. I have been on both sides of the coin, before having very thin lines (the contest one is a prime example of some of my thinnest), so I have now been actively working towards thicker lines to get experience on both sides. I don't tend to change shading from the original, so the direction of the gradients and the placement of the shadows (at least the ones I could see from the original) are there to stay.
>>1761892 >>1761953 Pretty much. The shading on the sweater has too much of a red tint, and the base color is too dull in comparison. I reduced the saturation and the brightness on the shadows to make it more neutral brown and increased the saturation on the sweater to complement better.

Anon With Sketchy Issues
I'm trying out vectoring a sketch I made. However, I'm running into some issues with the pointing hand. Specifically, the kinks in the pointing finger feel weird. I'm not sure where to put the nodes. If anyone has advise or ideas, that would be greatly appreciated.

>>1762025 Place nodes at major changes in curves. You want each pair of nodes to be parallel in placement and handles. So for hands, you want nodes at the major knuckles, bending of skin, and at the fingernails. I did this example last thread. It should highlight what I mean.
You may have to edit your sketch and make the hands smoother before you vector it though. Then again, male hands tend to be much more blocky than female ones, so maybe I am wrong on that.

Things I dislike are the puke green leggings, I think they should be orange to go with the fall-ish colors but you can try what you like.
I also think this image looks better when you add a darker outline to the full image, all I did in Photoshop is add a stroke to the image scaled it till the image "popped" a little, tips are rounded because of using strokes in photoshop but you get the picture.
Image is also a hair desaturated on my monitor as well but that can easily be a preference thing.

As for the coloring, our monitors must be very different. It looks too saturated on my monitor. For the leggings, The character in the all the other fanart had a yellowish-orange color, but the change was pretty drastic from the original and I felt uncomfortable doing it. I think this would be perfect for a beginner: get them used to shapes, and gradients all in one go. The background stuff, in contrast to the girls, is superficial and can be copy-pasta-ed once an object is made, and the rest appears to be simple striping with texture that you can either ignore or do with fun gradient tricks...

Does everyone use inkscape? Is it possible to use Sai?
Anonymous
>>1764432 What's used here is either Adobe Illustrator or inkscape. The usage of Sai has been asked here before, and if I remember correctly, the problem with it is that Sai only does rasters, so even if you do the same methods that you would do to create a vector Sai, it will only just be a regular raster.
JPGC
>>1764432 The majority of us use Illustrator, and a few others use Inkscape. Like
>>1764433 said, you can't use Sai to make vectors as it is a raster based program. You have to use a vector based program to make vectors. Inkscape is the best free alternative to use, while Illustrator has the most features but you have to buy/pirate it for the later versions.

A lot of the lineart is also really messy when in comparison to the original, such as for the eyebrows, eye folds, mouth, nose, bangs, and some of the jacket. For the face lines, you should go back and try using sharp nodes for them, and minimize the nodes so things look less blocky. For the hair, you need to be more consistent. Thickness is very sporadic That will require fiddling for a long while to get right.

>>1766619 unlikely. Firstly I wouldn't trust anything on the internet including this.
It depends on the license of the original image. By default it is copyrighted by the artist and unless they license it appropriately you can't do anything to free it up. Business use can be worse as you could get sued.
Look for images under an appropriate creative commons license that allows you to use it, pay an artist to make you one or buy the rights to use it. Of course, you could always draw it yourself.
