My second rice, so some feedback would be nice.

I'm not sure about the font, maybe one taller and slimmer, but I'm so bad at searching fonts.

I was thinking about using the cat as a battery status, like disappearing at the same ratio as the battery drains or trying to shorten the tail. Ideas are very welcome.

Are you the one who had the same image with a solid black wall last thread? If you are this a better looking one.
The character was cutout poorly and that is what you are seeing. Its really bad around her hair and right arm. If you can find a higher quality render of this image it will look much better. I find the white background to be a bit too much as well. Play off the few colors in the wall you have. Try seeing how a light pink or blue wall (to contrast the pink) will look with that pattern/texture you have. A softer set of icons will also help. The current pack is to bold and solid of a color.

I edited the icons I had to better fit my theme. It looks a lot more crisp on my phone than it does in any of my screenshots though!

Good idea with the angled clock, but I don't think it's working very well. Inconsistent fonts and black outlines on clock/icons bug me. The whole thing would also probably look better with gorilla a tad lower so there's a margin above the ribbon.

As for the placement stuff I'm quite lost, I don't want more icons so I really don't know how I could get rid of that space or how to distribute it better.

I'm quite happy with the half top part, the problem I believe it's in the white part and on the icons. But I don't know what I should do with my poor modifications skills. I'll think about it for a little while. Ideas are welcome.

It depends on what you want. I use Min (which is a small, minimal white icon set) for almost all my rices because I find it works in most rices. If you want something more specific (eg. If your icons just NEED to be a specific shade of red-violet) you'd do well with editing an existing icon pack.

"good" depends on the look you want. There are plenty in the play store that look great depending on how you use them. For widgets you generally are better off making one to fit the screen better. UCCW and Zooper are not that hard to learn.

This arguably looks worse. The circle around 10 doesn't make any sense and the different sizes for hour vs minute are pretty jarring. I thought the previous horizontal style worked better as it fit with the musicals staves nicely.

Lately a lot the screens making it into the op just scream first or second time posters. They are uninspired banner copouts.
With this op going left to right:
Solid black just feels meh, and bland. The clock has an interesting effect, but its not exactly enough to make the screen stand out. While the icons are all spaced nicely there are too many for one screen. it looks cluttered, and draws the eye away from main subject of the wallpaper. It also kind of feels like the dialer section of the phone, which I personally don't like.
The red banner adds an off look the pool of LCL. Almost like its pouring over and edge or something. The blue in the clock clearly has some relation to the image but next to all the red and orange its not enough of a dominate color for the accent part. The wallpaper image is also washed out color wise. Her hips shouldn't be that light with her shoulders that dark. Its just too wide of an area for a shadow.
The one on the right looks good, its something that is done before but the way the she is holding the triangle and the general color harmony its a really solid piece.

Last thread going left to right:
The colors all fit and the icons nod nicely to the geometirc feel of the wallpaper. By no means is it breathtaking but there are no faults.
The white clocks and icons are a bit out of place also don't look bad. They don't get lost over the image and the poster put in the effort to at least get a good matching look. My least favourite of that op.
The last screen while a bit dark for my liking has PERFECT color matching. The shades may not be exactly from that imge but they harmonise nicely with the sunset and dusk sky. The only thing to hate here is the nav buttons but its android 5.0 so you can't do much about it.

One thing I do notice between you and timma is more often than not he grabs screens that generally get widespread praise, not necessarily the ones he likes most (not saying you don't as well but it could be a factor). Its also kind of a tradition now for him to make the OP. Hes been around forever so its a safe assumption hes going to grab the better ones.
One thing I do remember someone saying about your OPs on several occasions is they are made way to soon. Just because the old thread hits 304 posts we don't need a new op made right that minute. /w/ is a slow board. Wait till the thread makes it to like page 8 before you jump on the op. By that point its clearly needed and people will not bitch as much.

I know he said anyone can make it, and for a while he was gone so someone else had to step up but hes back now. If you are this bitter about catching shit over the op just stop making them.

No. In fact if you have a samsung phone running touchwiz for example simply using apex or nova may increase app drawer and home screen responsiveness.
As for the debloating guide that will vary between phones, carriers, and personal opinions on what is and is not bloat. Its not necessary for most, but if you really want to get rid of some bloat you need to root your phone, install something like titanium backup then google search a debloat guide for your specific phone to make sure you don't remove any crucial apps.

Not unless a folder is added as a widget component. The closest you can get is overlaying a folder on the widget then using a blank png image to mask it so it looks like its part of the widget.

I was thinking more or the orange in her bracelets or the flower in her hair. Something still warm to go with the pink but no so close in contrast. The almost teal color in the shadows might be a nice color to pair with the pink as well.

Look at the color combination/coordination, the general quality of the image used and the fact they didn't try to include a widget that included a clock, series calendar, weather, missed calls, texts, emails, and the current stock exchange.

Lots of people make the op multiple times. Scope has had his homescreen up there at least 10 times. So long as the repeats aren't consecutive things it shouldn't be a huge issue. The gundam section of the wall isn't a realistic drawing though? Also how is a realistic image not a detailed image? The very definition of realism in art is about including all the small intricate details that make it pop from the page.

Asuka guy here. I have 2 arguments for the blue clock.

1. Regardless of the wall, if it has a face then thats the first thing everyone will look at. Most destinguishing feature of the face are the eyes specifically with the color. The eyes seem to be looking at something so it might as well match the color and level.
2. I tend to avoid the same color with that particular clock + date widget. The reason being to avoid visual clutter. Contrast makes it more readable when you only want to read the time or only the date.

Or maybe I'm just talking out of my ass and I'm too lazy to change the hexes now.

I think the resolution isn't the problem, but the fact that it seems to be a textured scan from a manga or somesuch. It sticks out bad against the perfectly vectored icons. If you use it to your advantage texture the icons and follow >>1760111 it looks much better.

Have you tried an icon set done in a neon sign style like the stars vomiting out of her eyes? Get them to match the vibrant colors and use drop shadows to make them more visible if need be.

Thanks. I think it looks a bit better now but the memory line is kinda iffy. I used it to fill in the the blank space that stood out but at the same time the information isnt really useful. Also tried to mix the mid widgets a bit but having a rough time trying to find the right size.

You can hide it without flashing a custom rom. It still needs root though. You will have to use an xposed framework tweak like gravity box. Depending on the phone (I think the nexus 5 is included here) befor you can flash a rom or root you have to unlock the phone which will wipe it. As in all your saved anything is gone. First rice here and I need your help. I obviously read the OP and I still have questions about lock screens. I have an old phone (galaxy core 1) and Im using widgetlocker.

It seems that WL divides the lockscreen in 2 grids. I can only change the superior one and thr inferior one fucks up my apps. Whenever I change the amount of aps in my lockscreen they disappear or I can only look half the icon.

How can I change the grids? any solution for the icons?

Please keep ratings and suggestions about the rice its self, not the OS's UI. Telling people to flash a new rom or update (when they might not be able to) over something like that is bullshit.

Alright, I did it. Not really as happy with the lockscreen this time, although the homescreen seems to have worked out better than I originally thought.

Unsure how to feel on these layouts, tell me which # you like best I guess.

Most likely this will change to something more colorful soon, but along the same lines layout-wise.
Looking for the right artwork I guess.

Too bad WP won't allow "true" white backgrounds for live tiles, or this would be a lot better with what I originally had in mind.

@the anon who was asking for a good weather app with proper live tile settings:
Blue Skies is the best.
It gives real layout options, the option to keep live tile on while turning the flipping off, and has the best layout with the most information app-wise.
If only the live tile background was actually white, and not a grey-white.

settings > start+theme > start background >choose photo
The from there I used the #TileArt app to add the Chitoge render. Just make sure it your render is a clear .png file. I divided her into three wide tiles then pasted them.

I think its the fact I had it installed at one point so its still shows up (and is installable) under the "all" tab in my apps in the play store. Its got the name 'zHoller! White' and if I check the play store on my laptop not my phone its not there. They also don't show up under the dev's list of apps.

Is there a way to make your dock work as a vertical banner, or make a banner with vertical scrolling with a few rows? If i have no other options I'll just stick one in with paint and use the dock as my main app launcher, but I'd like to be able to scroll vertically down the side.

The current icons aren't even that bad. Gel is a definite downgrade. If the icons were to change the it should be to something of similar nature i.e. solid, flat white/black/color either with or without bordering.

6/10 Banner looks so cramped and forced. It extends to the far ends of the screen but nothing else does so it feels out of place. Not a real fan of the three image layout you've got going on but I don't have any real good suggestions so whatever floats your boat man. Pink/light blue is a really cheesy color combo. 6.5/10 Battery/wifi is pretty creative so I'll give you credit for that. Apart from that nothing really is to my personal taste but I'll avoid ranting too much about the more subjective points. Keep your fonts consistent though. It looks disjointed and terrible when you use different fonts, even moreso when they are of different styles. E.g. here you use a scribbly/trashy one, an elegant one and a digital/pixel one. Make up your mind; use one that fits the wall or whatever theme you're trying to create. This is a working progress, have yet to add clock, etc until I've decided on an icon pack.

So I'm stealing the idea in the OP and I can't put my icons in the orange bar at the bottom since my phone has a virtual menu button etc, otherwise I would have used Tiny white, so I decided on cryten, does it work? If not, could anyone suggest a better icon pack. I tried looking for a pack with lighter colours to match the colour scheme of the wall.

If they were all a equal distance from the edge of the screen as well as each other it would look cleaner. Lastly the banner icons are not centered. I'm going to go ahead and assume that English isn't your first language. The proper term is work in progress.

As for the wall, you're like the 2nd or 3rd guy to steal that wallpaper. While its a very nice wall. Why not try something on your own. Find a good wallpaper you like to start with and work your design around it. People here are always willing to help with advice.
