It's just the wrong color, according to Color Picker your window color is #073642 and your wallpaper is #073542.

See, that's the obvious way of solving it, but it doesn't quite work. Even when the colors are shifted you can still make out the border. I think it has something to do with the compression of the wallpaper and theme image files after saving them in photoshop; for whatever reason the colors are shifted, slightly.

First desktop post of 2015. I still need to add some more functionality to my bar, but this is what I have as a start. Black and tiny fonts for the sake of nostalgia. Poker is a great start. I'm a huge fan of 60% boards. I use them for everything other then gaming. Make sure to try out a bunch of different switch types before deciding. And check your local thrift store for keyboards as well. I found an AT101w at a local thrift store for dirt cheap and fell in love with it.
Also visit Geekhack, there is a ton of info there.

Quite pink. Just some quick suggestions that you may or may not agree with:
- make the color borders around the Rei fanart match the borders of your foobar
- I don't know if you made the background of fanart pink, but personally I would try to make that background color match the white of the foobar.
- the bordered pictures are also pretty bold in comparison to the rei on the wallpaper and the rest of your colors, so I would wash the bordered art a little bit and make it a little lighter.

Nice desktop overall-- just some small consistency stuff and you'll be perfect.

Yeah I use 8.1 myself. Since I haven't found any way to safely customize windows 8, I'm using rainmeter and the basic aero included in 8.1.

Especially right now, for personal reasons my computer is very important so I can't risk a complete software reset as happened last time with bblean/

If you wanted a more minimal RM launcher I came up with a simple text based one that can respond to varied input (i.e. opening programs, searching for things, googling things, and even switching themes and wallpapers). Phiat then made a much better version, which you can find on his website (I can't remember the url atm).

I use a different kind of theme switching than he does, a different method for opening programs (I just put a whole bunch of shortcuts in a particular folder and then tell the program to open '[INPUT].lnk' and [INPUT].url' in that folder; this allows you to make text based commands to open up all the programs and websites you'd like) and I add search functionality using the search software 'everything.exe'.

You might need to learn some basic lua to edit toggle.ini, but it isn't all that hard. Also keep in mind that both Phait's version and my edited version still have some bugs when trying to switch themes; this is probably not your main focus anyway though.

And if Phait is around, feel free to check out my edits to your code! :)

The bottom of letters touch the edge of the url bar. Add a 1px bottom border or something.
Also the only other problem I have is that the selected tab is highlighted a darker color.. Maybe make the inactive tabs a light grey color and the active tab background slightly darker than the normal color.

That's probably because you were using rgba values for your colors instead of rgb, so the alpha value changed the way it looked when you changed visual styles. Just remove the alpha value or set it to 1 and change the color to whatever it was before by ripping it from an old scrot.

But since Windows 7 ricing was more popular, most of the fantastic themes out there only supports it. There are some good themes for Windows 8.1 to find, especially in Deviantart. To your launchbar (with Skype ALREADY pinned to the taskbar). Copy the Skype shortcut to another folder. Now take this shortcut you just copied, and change it to whichever icon you want. Now unpin the Skype shortcut you have on your taskbar (and close it, if it's open) then drag the one you just modified directly from the folder you copied it to, and pin it on your taskbar. It should work, alright.

nanami-tan has a good source of things to get you started with Windows ricing though. Not to mention that 8.1 has been getting VS support for a while now. Pretty sure bbLean is supported on 8.1, but I can't say for sure since I don't use 8.1

You'll never have a desktop like those bc you're trying to rationalize your laziness with invalid reasons. Multiple people here use 8.1 and you can't distinguish from a w7 desktop w bblean installed. The world isn't friendly to autism; nor should it be. Nanami-tan isn't gonna make train noises and spoon-feed you (it does a pretty good job of it, though)- it's there to give you the resources you need to implement your ideas. Find something you like in a screenshot, try and recreate it, and I can guarantee you'll just naturally start tweaking small things you don't like and eventually end up with a solid, unique rice.

I'm not actually sure if I want to get a second one, it's a much nicer monitor but I quite like having a smaller and a larger one, smaller is much better for web browsing large is much nicer for programming.

I can't just pick something from a screenshot because I don't have any kind of reference to start from. Of course I can ask, but there's no guarantee I'll have a definite or at least comprehensible answer.

Nanami-tan has many references, of course. I managed a lot of things with its help, but it's basically:
"Here's the name of the program, it does this". While following up to the original web site, it does the same thing, the only difference is that it only tells me how it works. No tips on how to customize, no tips on troubleshooting, nothing (especially with bblean). If I do find a guide, it's not beginner-friendly. They just pick-up from a point and uses tips like you had at least some training (which doesn't even exist in the first place).

Plenty of reasons, I guess 4 hours straight of searching day by day can't be called laziness.

Bblean is easy to edit, it's not something you need a guide on.

Play around with the style maker, then open up the rcs and take a look at it, you'll figure out what you need to do and what you want to do.

That's how I did it.

If you do need help, ask on here and maybe I'll know.

I messed up my explorer.exe once, trying to change the start orb. It took some effort to restore it, but still it was a pain in the ass.

Also, I had to go through some system files (shell32, explorerframe, imageres, etc) too, now I know how to deal it with, but that doesn't mean I don't have to play safe.

That's the reason I switched to 8.1, my 7 was so modified beyond repair, even with countless System Restores and backups.

It's all personal preference. Most people (at least in most communities like this) prefer minimal setups. The setup posted is clunky and has no conformity. The text on the main menu is hard to read because the background is so busy. The wallpaper is also pretty muddled and ugly. But it is still their computer. If they like it that way, thats fine. They won't get much (or any) praise from the community, but thats just how communitys work.
