I play WoW and Tera (Yes, I know, kill me) with a PS3 controller and I'm pretty efficient with everything but typing. Of course you need to set the buttons up depending on the application you want to control, but you can also take advantage of X-Padders 'modes' function to do different things depending on what you need.
Just saying, it's possible. Maybe she didn't feel like wasting the arm movement on a mouse or some shit.
