Would also recommend going through nami-tan
because there's some good shit in there that's applicable, css etc.
find some nice gaussian blur wallpapers or some weaboo papers, install bblean and use bb crim_ or some other popular skin.
find a nice homepage and some firefox css. install stylish. install greasemonkey, get firefox.
I liked tinycss a lot, its on stylish.

before you get to ask ctrl+right click / configuration / width percentage set to 100% to max the top bar

as far as switching to bblean you should do a bit of research but it's prettty simple. download bblean, puke because it's disgusting. Download a skin and feel better about it.
I recommend bb crim, but there are a few other popular bblean skins out there.
Comes with four work stations/desktops it's not bad.
Just hope you werent planning on using the desktop for icons or anything.
I would recommend building up to bblean tho.
making a nice set up as far as visual style and finding some nice css and everything before getting it.
that's what i did anyway. I think it's a bit sounder of a plan rather than just jumping right in. do what you want though.

thanks for the link. unfortunately its not working out so well on win10. if it helps, i didn't choose to install as default shell in case something went wrong. it attempts to load, and when i click into the desktop i get that "wait for program to respond or close" prompt.

bbleanskin is causing it, so you should add firefox it to your exclusions rc file or just disable bbleanskin.

I don't remember exactly what you need to add though, I recently switched to Ubuntu and never transferred my bbzero configs so maybe someone else here can tell you

Softwares with their own skin (not managed by dwm) will clash with bbLeanSkin. Toggle the log on (by opening the menu > blackbox > bbleanskin > toggle log) and open Firefox. Coppy the dll warning to the exclusions.rc and restart blackbox.

Imo, the colors themselves aren't bad but the contrast therein is painful to look at. Its personally straining for me to attempt to read the black font on dark pink/red. Even if the font is bold like that which I appreciate, its just too low contrast for me.

At least one other range of color, a yellow or something - maybe just even a lighter grey would be nice.
