The hulk and thor are equally poor examples. The Hulk has a whole storyline in which he defeats every major hero and fights to a standstill with the sentry, but then in other issues is defeated by Iron man.
Thor too has issues with Hulk and Iron Man and various other villains, but then in another storyline he is fighting some anti god at the center of reality and defeats him.
Comic book powerlevels are so inconsistent and so fucking bullshit that they are not to be trusted at all.
DBZ has an insane power creep too, but its not retarded enough to a point where the characters have been written into a wall.
