>>1875272OP here. I took something like 6 months to reach where I am right now. Of course, no "proper baby sitting" but I received a lot of help from people, specially in the threads and other common sense trip fags and known ricers (Shiro, Noha, hal).
You won't get something perfect just for reading a guideline, when it comes to actually ricing something you have to go all by yourself. Don't be afraid to ask questions you don't seem to get an answer for in the threads or other sources of help (like IRC), but most of the time you'll have to search for documentation on the subject yourself. Nanami is a starting point, it's a source for ricing, not exactly a guide to perfect rice itself, but it's immeasurably helpful.
My desktop consists of the following:
- Blackbox (the bbZero fork, available in the blackbox4windows official forums)
- Cygwin, Unix environment on Windows
- ~50 lines of Moonscript by hal for the now playing widget
Besides general ricing like a custom VS, Firefox CSS and homepage which are not shown in the actual shot.
I can share config files on request, but it's expected that you're actually a little bit familiar with those environments for you to set them up, otherwise I could walk you through if you really want it.
