Win7 user here, hope y'all can help me out.
I've been using a custom-edited VS for like 2 years now, and have used several others in the past (been using an edited Exon long-term, used Pix and one of the popular ones by Neiiro or whatever as well).
I tried a VS I found linked on Nanami-tan and ever since, Aero won't enable if I'm using any custom VS. I know this doesn't make sense, but it has no problem staying enabled if I use one of Win7's default Aero themes, but if it's a custom one at all, I can't enable Aero.
If I go to System->Advanced System Settings->Performance->Settings, I check "enable desktop composition", hit apply and nothing happens. If I re-open that window it's unchecked again. I've also tried using net stop/start uxsms and it does literally nothing.
This makes no sense at all to me. I doubt anyone actually has any idea but I've spent the last hour googling.
