I've read the first part of the manga, and I loved the way they merged almost the whole thing into a single cohesive experience.
Well all but Yugo. his character and story got completely shafted to the point that he's basically useless to the story, and doesn't really even serve to teach Alita anything of value himself, only as a vehicle for her growth through what happens to him in the end. I at least wanted to see that they kept his brother's hand in as a reference. But no.
Still great though.
