They start making money and quit improving. They find their niche, so why change from it? Online artists suffer from the same thing. They find one thing that works and never change and they don't need to. It becomes a process to mill out art without any kind of self-fulfillment.
Artists of old went around the world to study anatomy. People today don't go further than having what they need to make money. Artistry is for losers with no other path in life.
