The grid change did it. Didn't expect that to fill in the margins.
I did consider putting the folder above the other stuff, but it's easier to reach where it is, and it's the only thing on the home screen that I actually touch. Also, it has a little bit of a taper effect from the top of the screen.
Now to see if I can find a shape I like better for the folder and to do list... I might go hexagon.
