I'm of the thought that rainmeter isn't bad, but own it's own isn't ricing (There are a few exceptions to this). Rainmeter should be complementary to rice and can be done super well but it's paired with other elements of ricing as it can add extra utility and fill in the gaps where there isn't some program or registry entries to edit. Kind of like Phait's launcher or that powerline widget (It's been so long since anyone has used it I can't remember who made it), taskbar shadows, or the transparent border you had for your taskbar.
I realize this is just a rant at this point, but I do wish that new anons would realize the possibilities of rainmeter instead of throwing a clock/visualizer/music controls/random meters thinking that's all there is to it.
