>>7066796>>7065046>>7064751>>7051436Best advice if you don't know what to do at a young age? Just do something, anything. Get a job somewhere and find out what you do like and don't like. You can sit around taking classes all you want at a college, but you won't actually know what you do enjoy doing because academia isn't the real world.
I tried college out of high school, I hated it. Wasted my time, so I just went to work for a few years. Tried being a delivery driver, made decent money. Turns out it fucking blows, but some people enjoy it. Tried being a machinist, fucking terrible at it. People enjoy it, and make fantastic money doing it. Tried working my way up the retail ladder, which I ended up really hating. Not a bad gig if you can make it though. Lots of independently owned retail stores have great benefits and management.
So, at 27, still young, I said fuck it. I'm going to join the fucking Air Force. Probably the best decision I've made so far. I'm in as a Hydraulics Specialist. I'll have access to the GI bill, VA Housing loans, I get housing allowance on top of my base pay because I'm married. The military isn't for everyone obviously. There's a million dumb fucking things and people you'll encounter. I'm going full 20 for the pension because I can deal with retards. You get paid to learn, you can go in and learn a skill that's USE FULL in the civilian world. Maintenance, IT, administration.
Just do something, learn a trade, make connections. If you hate school, why fucking keep doing it. Go do something else. Chances are you'll make more in a trade than with a degree.
I know of guys getting paid as equipment operators that make 30$ an hour on a normal day and 2-3x as much for 8 hour shifts on weekends on big projects.
