I think something a little more pastel might fit better - it's honestly not that huge of an issue. I'm not too familiar with icon packs anymore as I don't have icons so I can't help much there, but here's an old unfinished icon pack guide that I made that you can perhaps consider.

Choose one icon pack. I don't like your setup at all (wallpaper is cheesy, widgets are generic).

If you want to go for a 'medieval' theme, put a simple wood background, have something like my header pic - a framed pic but of something medieval. And there's an old styled icon pack. It's in the infographic.

As for work on the icon pack guide, I've kind of slacked off on it. Pic related was as far as I got. I'll either clean it up and release it as an "unfinished" version to "finish up" in the future, or just post the .psd if someone would like to work on it.
