It feels like an 80's slasher flick, where the humans are annoying on purpose so you'll be excited to see them die (hell, even a fucking kid dies, and that never happens in regular slasher movies).
I sure as hell don't consider it canon, and it's not exactly a cinematic masterpiece, but the body count is great and it's a lot of fun to see the two species throw down. Plus the predalien is just plain fucking awesome.
