Moot and made by pretentious neck beards that think they're greater fans of the franchise because of their undying loyalty to the originals and rejection of new content... It hinders their ability to enjoy excellent films.
That being said, I totally agree about the EU. I understand why they did it, but when you've spent so many hours of your life reading the Wookiepedia, the books and graphic novels, and playing the games as well, you develop such a profound perception of that universe, and Disney threw that in the garbage just so they could make the series their own.
