>>6051912You are not alone in thinking this. He did a terrific job on the actual lotr trilogy and the hobbit was visually pleasing and I did enjoy them as a movie fan standpoint. Yet, the Tolkien enthusiast in me despised The Hobbit trilogy. The Love triangle was ridiculous, he tried to hard to make connections to The Lord of the Rings, he added characters that should not have been there and personally I didn't like his over usage of CGI. He did however manage to add in enough lore to keep the Tolkien fans pleased and enough action to keep the lotr film fans pleased. He did do a great job on the casting and no I doubt we will ever see another film set in Middle Earth, at least until Christopher Tolkien passes away. I think the younger generations of Tolkiens family would sell out if the price was good.
