But today, in the age of information and the continuous bombardment of dramas everywhere, no one would be affected for more than a couple of days. And even if someone's behavior were to change, it would be at most a person very close to the affected one. In global terms, one person is nobody.
The only purpose of any living thing is to allow life to continue to exist. We're all bound to that destiny. Humans may be able to look beyond it, but our primal instinct remains the same: to reproduce.
